How To Activate Google Fi On Your iPhone Using An eSIM (New)

Google Fi iPhone Settings: Google Fi is a wireless carrier and telecommunication service of Google, which offers excellent voice calls and SMS as well as Broadband services. It is a kind of mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Google Fi does not own the infrastructure but obtains existing infrastructure from other service providers to provide its services. To offer its services, Google Fi relies on U.S. Cellular, T-Mobile, and Sprint network infrastructure.

Doing so saves a lot of initial investment for the new entrant by making efficient use of the existing ones. If you've registered on Google Fi with your iPhone or are thinking about it, then this post is created for you. In this post, you will find everything you need to know about setting up an Apple product on Google's wireless service. Let's see the procedure to set up Google Fi on the iPhone.

How to set up Google Fi on iPhone:

Step 1:

Check whether your iPhone is compatible with Google Fi :

To check whether your iPhone is compatible or not, go to fi.google.com/about/ and tap on 'Join Fi' at the top right corner of the page. Then select the model of iPhone from the list. If you have the latest iPhone, you can select "Quick Setup" to turn on Fi with eSIM. If you have older models, then you need to follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 2:

Open Google Fi iOS app:

If you have installed the Google Fi iOS app on your iPhone, launch the app from the app drawer. If you haven't installed it yet, then you can simply get it from the App Store. After selecting eSIM implementation on the Fi website, Google Fi iOS Apps will perform device and iOS compatibility tests.

If both are compatible, you will see the Get Started option and click on it to begin eSIM Activation. If any of them is not compatible, you will get an error message. In this case, you can order a physical SIM instead of trying to activate eSIM. Before activating from the Google Fi iOS app, select "Quick Setup" on the Google Fi website.

Step 3:

Begin to activate eSIM:

After confirming that your iPhone and iOS version are compatible with eSIM, go to fi.google.com/ios/quicksetup on any individual device such as a PC. You must go to this page on a separate device because your iPhone will need to scan the QR code.

Once the website is loaded, you are asked to sign in to the website. After completing the sign-in process, you have to scan the QR code on the iPhone where you want to enable Google Fi and follow the on-screen instructions. If the QR code shown does not work for you, refresh the page, and it will show you a new QR code. Try to scan the new QR code.

You can easily change your physical Google Fi SIM to eSIM and vice versa by simply using the Google Fi iOS app. When you switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM, there may be several cellular profiles associated with your number on your iPhone. If, for that reason, you are unable to make or receive calls, delete the old SIM cellular profile on the app.

APN settings for Google Fi on iPhone:

APN settings are usually installed when you insert a SIM card or after the Activation of eSIM, but sometimes you have to manually configure them. If you aren't aware of it, then use this guide to set up the APN for Google Fi on your iPhone.

Once you have activated Google Fi physical or eSIM on your iPhone, open the Settings app on your device. On the Settings, navigate to mobile data >> mobile data network. Then click on add APN and begin to configure the settings as below

  • APN: h2g2
  • Username: (Leave blank)
  • Password: (Leave blank)

Once you have configured the APN settings, restart your iPhone. That's it. You can also easily access your SIM applications and speed up your browsing by clearing the cache in the Safari browser. The APN settings given here will automatically speed up your internet.

Final words:

So these are the procedures to set up Google Fi on an iPhone. Of course, there are some caveats to this as well. Google Fi iPhone users will, unfortunately, miss out on some of the features that users of the official Fi Phone can use, like visual voicemail and switch between networks.
